Blessed Silence.

For weeks, I 've had a hate-hate relationship with the construction workers finishing the space below us. Yesterday and today, they've been rockin' out to the easy listening station. LOUD.

Now, I love me some Kenny G., and I know we built this city on rock and rollllll, not to mention meeting Lola at the Copacabana, but I do not want to listen to it for 8 hours. Amidst the sounds of hammers and circular saws.

I swear, I heard Michael Bolton in my sleep last night. (Also, that is sooo not manly. At least pump in some Tool or old skool Aerosmith. Damn, guys.)

NOLA pictures.

Me with a delish Cajun Bloody Mary at La Bayou Restaurant.
It was so spicy, I'm just now getting
feeling back on my tongue.

Me, at the backass end of the French Quarter. Josh and I walked up to the river, he took one look and turned on his heel and said, "Whelp, there it is" and walked off like Clark Griswold on their European Vacation. Also, I need a tan.

This? This was just sick. Molten lava cake
baked to order at GW Fins.

I can't even begin to explain this. It's some tricked out car parked on Bourbon Street. It must've had about 10 flat-screen TVs on it (including where the front license plate would go) and a bar built into where the trunk would be. Yes, you could buy a drink from the driver. But those dolls? Add them to my list of Things That Freak Me Out.

Why you should fire some workers ...

... instead of letting them finish.

(Got this in an email. Brilliant.)

I am well on my way...

To completely losing my shit today. My mom's in the hospital, and my brother called me yesterday to tell me he's getting married tomorrow. I have a Christmas party on Thursday that I had to quickly drum up a sitter for. Oh, and I'm PMSing and still sick.

I really want to crack open a bottle of Cabernet, get a big bag of greasy potato chips and watch "Maury Povich" and "Cheaters" on the couch all day. Guess I should probably just work, since it's not yet 10 a.m. (Although both a Bloody Mary and screwdriver are acceptable "pre-lunch" drinks...)

I am a ...

Alas, I did not win a prize for National Blog Posting Month; however, I now carry the satisfaction of knowing that I am huge nerd for successfully blogging every day for a month for absolutely nothing.

But I'm not bitter.

6. Favorite gift received? Hmmm... Probably my wine casethat Bill bought me in 2001. It was a total surprise.

7. Do you have a nativity scene? No. No real place to put it, and the cats would probably make a toy out of the baby Jesus, anyway.

8. Hardest person to buy for? Bill’s dad. Dude needs to get a hobby.

9 Easiest person to buy for? Bella. She’s four and gives me an explicit list.

10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Bill bought me a hairdryer in 2004. I got diamond earrings the year after. He apparently learned his lesson...

17. Favorite Christmas song? Carol of the Bells.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? We go to Eminence to Bill’s mom’s on Christmas Eve, then to Aunt Bettie’s on Christmas day and to my parents’ on Christmas Eve.

Another Lazy Sunday.

It's rainy and cold and I'm still in my PJs, curled up in the Lay-Z-Boy watching The Soup Presents. We have no food in this house so it's yet another pizza night. I'm still not over my bronchitis (and now I have a bangin canker sore on my lip to boot), so I spent most of today doped up on cough syrup reading the fourth Gossip Girl story and watching COPS reruns on TV.

I hope I get over this soon. Otherwise, we'll starve without food and go naked without clean clothes. YESSSSSSS....
